An associate's degree is an undergraduate degree that usually takes about two years to complete. Typically, associate's degrees are awarded by community colleges, although some four-year Universities may offer them as well. In most cases, to receive an associate's degree, you need to complete about 60 credit hours. Much like a four-year degree, an associate's degree has basic requirements: required general education classes, required major classes, and electives. This helps make sure that the student's education is well rounded. In most cases, an associate's degree can be finished in about two years.
